The Charter
Every studio has values. Ours are written down.
A charter is a set of commitments you can be held to. Six clauses that every project we take on is built under.
01
Accessibility is built in, not bolted on
02
Privacy by design, not by promise
03
The details are the job
Work
Built, not pitched.
A selection of the platforms we have designed and shipped for complex, regulated work.
BUILDING COMPLIANCE
Plan-reading certification
A building certification app that reads building plans, turning a slow manual document check into a structured, reviewable assessment.
VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
Recognition and gap assessment
Students upload a portfolio; the tool maps prior study and experience against a qualification and advises the RTO how to adapt the course.
PLANNING
Development potential checker
Enter an address and what you want to do. It tells you what is permissible on that property, from a granny flat to a full extension.
What we do
Two ways we work.
Design and build a platform
Purpose-built workflow software for a process too complex, too regulated or too specific for anything off the shelf. We map the real workflow, design around the people who run it, and ship production software they own.
Build AI into existing operations
Careful, bounded AI inside the systems you already run. Reading documents, drafting structured entries, flagging what needs a human. Always with a person in the loop and a clear line around what the AI is allowed to do.
About
I spent years inside compliance-heavy industries before I ever built software for them. I know what it costs when a system gets the details wrong, because I have been the person it cost.
MELANIE MACDONALD · FOUNDER
Charter Studio was founded by Melanie MacDonald, a former quality assurance manager at GlaxoSmithKline who went on to grow a company into Australia's BRW Fast 100. Regulated industries are not a market we chose. They are where we come from.
Contact
Tell us about the system that has to be right.
A thirty-minute conversation. You describe the problem, we tell you honestly whether we can solve it, what it would take and what you would own at the end. No pitch deck, no follow-up sequence.
